Simple Boogie in C
This first study is a simple boogie pattern, in the key of C. It is a 12-bar blues chord progression. The primary chords in this key are C, F and G. They are marked in the score. For now, don't concern yourself too much with all that. Just learn the tune and get your fingers to do what you want them to. Remember the technique tips given on the Basic Technique page. Focus on how you hold the guitar and how you lay your hands on it. Also remember to relax your hands and arms and play with as light a touch as you can. This tune is written to be played in the “first position.” Use the one-finger-per-fret principle, which in this case means that your first finger takes the notes on the 1st fret, your second finger takes the notes on the 2nd fret, your third finger on the 3rd fret and finally your fourth finger takes the notes on the 4th fret. The fingerings are marked in the score. |
Note: While the title on the score is Boogie Woogie in C, it is the correct one.
